The online DVD rental business has exploded in the past few years. Why? Well there are many reasons. These reasons are outlined below.
Convenience:
You can browse and rent DVDs from the comfort of your home. No more waiting in line at the rental stores.
Selection:
Even the smaller online DVD rental services offer a larger selection than most brick & mortar DVD rental stores due to storage and shelf stocking restrictions. It is not uncommon to find 50,000 titles or more from online DVD rental services.
Availability:
Most online dvd rental services have multiple well-stocked warehouses full of DVDs. It is quite uncommon for a new release DVD to be 'out of stock'. However if they are, most services use a queing system, which automtically ships the DVD out once it becomes available.
Movie Reviews / Recommendations:
Most online DVD rental services store a database of movie reviews and rankings. Some, like Netflix, offer a recommendation system in which you rate movies based on your preferences. Your ratings are stored and additional similar DVDs are 'recommended' based on your ratings by determining which types of movies/actors you like.
Cost:
Most online DVD rental services offer very competitive subscription plans. Depending upon how often you typically rent DVDs, your savings could be huge compared to renting individual DVDs from a DVD rental store. |
